The questions every New Zealand owner asks first.

Handing work to someone in another country is a big step. Here’s what it’s actually like.

  • Will I find someone good?

You meet people with the experience you asked for: the same week from people we already know, or in about two weeks when we recruit to your brief. You decide who joins.

  • Will they be online when we are?

Yes. Manila is four or five hours behind New Zealand, so your person starts early their time and works your day. No waiting overnight for answers.

  • Will they get how we work?

English is widely used in Philippine business and education, and you’ll judge it yourself in the interview. Your person works full-time, only for you, in your tools.

  • What if something’s not right?

Raise it with your client success manager and we sort it, even the messy stuff. If your hire doesn’t work out in the first six months, for any reason, we recruit again at no cost.

Will they really work New Zealand hours?

Yes. Manila is four hours behind New Zealand in winter and five in summer, so a 9am start in Auckland is a 5am or 4am start for your person. They’re there for your morning meeting and your end-of-day questions.

You agree the hours before they start, including daylight saving and public holidays. Pick your city to see both clocks.

What will it actually cost me?

One price per person a month, in NZ dollars. Salary, employment, payroll, health cover, leave, a laptop and support are all in it.

Comparing with a local hire? Add up the salary, KiwiSaver, ACC levies, leave cover, recruitment fees, a desk and a laptop. That’s the number to hold this against.

Is it legal, and what am I on the hook for?

We’re your person’s legal employer in the Philippines (an employer of record). You choose who joins and lead their work. We handle the rest.

How Ramp EOR works
  1. Do I need to set up a company over there?

No. There’s no Philippine entity to register, no local bank account and no payroll to learn. Your person’s employment contract is with us.

  2. Am I taking on Philippine tax and payroll?

No. Their income tax and government contributions go through our payroll, and you get one monthly invoice. Your accountant can tell you how to treat it in your books.

  3. Isn’t it simpler to pay a contractor?

It looks simpler. But someone who works like an employee and is paid as a contractor can challenge that under Philippine law. With us they’re an employee, with 13th-month pay, leave and contributions paid.

  4. Already paying someone as a contractor?

We can move them onto an employment contract with us, without a break in their work.

What changed for a client

“As a global company operating across New Zealand, Australia, the US, and the UK, we struggled with capacity constraints in our back office finance functions. [Ramp Remote] hired dedicated professionals who strategically extended our operational hours beyond the traditional 9-to-5 schedule. The results have been outstanding – we've increased output significantly while gaining the dedicated support needed for business growth”

Is anyone else in New Zealand doing this?

Yes. These New Zealand businesses already have people in the Philippines through us.

You can meet people the same week if we already know someone who fits, or in about two weeks when we recruit to your brief. Once you’ve chosen, we agree a start date with you both and sort out their contract, equipment and onboarding.

One monthly price per person, covering their salary, employment, payroll, health cover, leave, a laptop and support. Starting prices for each role are on our pricing page in NZ dollars, and your written quote confirms the cost for the person you choose.

Raise it with your client success manager and we sort it, even the messy stuff. And if your person leaves or isn’t the right fit in their first six months, for any reason, we recruit again at no cost.

The same way you manage anyone: clear priorities and regular check-ins. Leave, schedules and timesheets sit in your Ramp Remote workspace, and your client success manager handles the employment side.

Yes. Your person is full-time and works only for you, on your hours and in your tools.

No. We’re the legal employer in the Philippines. Your person’s employment contract is with us, and we run their payroll, government contributions and benefits. You choose the person and lead their work.
